Dipodillus (Petteromys) lowei Thomas and Hinton 1923

Dipodillus (Petteromys) lowei Thomas and Hinton 1923, Proc. Zool. Soc. Lond., 1923: 261.

Type Locality: Sudan, Jebel Marra.

Vernacular Names: Lowe's Dipodil.

Distribution: Known only from the type locality.

Conservation: IUCN – Critically Endangered as Gerbillus lowei.

Discussion: Subgenus Petteromys. Synonymized with D. campestris by F. Petter (1975 b) without supporting evidence, but should be kept separate pending revision of the genus (Lay, 1983). Associated with D. campestris by Pavlinov et al. (1990).
