Type Locality: "Sierra de Valparaiso, Zacatecas," [Mexico].
Vernacular Names: Buller's Chipmunk.
Distribution: Sierra Madre, in S Durango, W Zacatecas, and N Jalisco (Mexico).
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Subgenus Neotamias. Formerly included durangae and solivagus, which were considered incertae sedis by Callahan (1980); see durangae. Reviewed by Bartig et al. (1993, Mammalian Species No. 438).
