Type Species: Sciurus macrotis Gray 1857

Synonyms: Rhithrosciurus Hose 1893.

Species and subspecies: 1 species:

Species Rheithrosciurus macrotis (Gray 1856)

Discussion: Tribe Sciurini according to Moore (1959:177), or incertae sedis (Simpson, 1945:78). Recent molecular studies (Mercer and Roth, 2003) support the placement of Rheithrosciurus in the tribe Sciurini.
