Type Locality: Cameroon, Efulen.

Vernacular Names: Railer Free-tailed Bat.

Synonyms: Mops (Xiphonycteris) occipitalis J. A. Allen 1917.

Distribution: Sierra Leone to Rwanda; Bioko (Equatorial Guinea); perhaps Mozambique and Zanzibar.

Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: Subgenus Xiphonycteris.
