Discussion: Subtribe Ectophyllina. For a history of the nomeclature of this genus and reasons for using Platyrrhinus in place of Vampyrops, see Gardner and Ferrell (1990) and Alberico and Velasco (1991). A key to the genus was provided by Ferrell and Wilson (1991).
