Thomasomys praetor Thomas 1900, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., ser. 7, 5: 354.
Type Locality: Perú, Cajamarca Dept., páramo between Cajamarca and San Pablo, 4000 m.
Vernacular Names: Cajamarca Thomasomys.
Distribution: NW Perú; limits uncertain.
Discussion: Another of the large Thomasomys relegated to a subspecies of T. aureus by Cabrera (1961). Morphological contrasts sketched by Voss (2003), who acknowledged T. praetor as species.
