This study aims to describe the concept and design of planning at the junior high school level. This research is a qualitative research with literature review type. Information collection was carried out by looking for several important sources including primary sources from literature sources that discuss the concept and design of planning at the junior high school level and several other literature sources related to the research. The data collected was then analysed to obtain the results of the study which showed that the idea of a new curriculum, namely the independent learning curriculum, was initiated by Nadiem Makarim, Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. One of the concepts in the independent learning curriculum is to require students to be independent. every student has the freedom to access knowledge from both formal and informal education, independence With affirmative policies aimed at students from disadvantaged, frontier, and remote areas, the development of an independent learning curriculum helps equalise education throughout Indonesia.
