In the frame of a Virtual Management Grant of the PROBE Cost Action
(https://www.probe-cost.eu), a review of the different approaches for the ALC-
based aerosol retrievals has been performed and is summarized in this
document. It analyses the approaches currently applied within the European ALC
networks in Italy (ALICENET), UK (MetOffice), Norway (V-PROFILE) and France
(ACTRIS-AERIS). This outcome is thought to be useful not only for the Cost Action
PROBE, but also for other European initiatives, such as E-PROFILE (https://e-
profile.eu) and the EC H2020 project RI-URBANS (https://riurbans.eu/).
