Description

With the emergence of advanced artificial intelligence technologies, the use of ChatGPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) has gained significant attention in the scientific writing community. ChatGPT is a machine learning algorithm that has the capability to generate text that resembles human writing. This article provides a comprehensive review of the advantages, threats, and mitigation strategies of applying ChatGPT to scientific writing. While ChatGPT presents a range of benefits for scientific writing, it also poses potential threats to the integrity and accuracy of scientific content. To address this issue, a study was conducted to test whether current AI detectors are able to reliably detect the use of ChatGPT in academic writing. The outcomes raise pertinent questions regarding the ways one can ensure the credibility and integrity of academic writing in the era of AI.
