The article considers the integration of local history in mathematics lessons as a way to develop functional mathematical literacy among younger students. Considering the concepts of functional literacy and mathematical culture, the authors analyze the influence of the integration of local history on the formation of practical skills and a deep understanding of mathematics. The publication also presents recommendations for creating local history tasks, emphasizing their benefits for motivation, general learning skills, and interdisciplinary learning. As a result, the importance of using local history material in the formation of functional mathematical literacy in the framework of preparing students for successful adaptation in the modern world is emphasized.
