OPEN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES (OER) AND E-CONTENT SHARING

Description

Digital technologies have dominated the dissemination of Open Educational Resources (OER), electronic content sharing platforms and educational courses, thereby changing the landscape of traditional education. This article looks briefly at the meaning of OER and e-content sharing, showing ways in which they change the traditional educational systems by providing access to educational materials, enabling educators’ collaboration, and supporting teachers’ innovation. Furthermore it examines the advantages and challenges brought about by the use of OER and internet-based sharing initiatives with the aim of highlighting the power it has to realize a democratic education system and tackle issues to do with affordability and accessibility. In the continuation, the work investigates ways of incorporating OER and e-content sharing in the processes of education by presenting alongside policies, the institutional support and capacity building initiatives. Apart from this, it offers point of view regarding future path and positions concerning OER and electronic materials consumption in education.
