Research Software Alliance: Catalyzing community-led collaborations

  • 1. Research Software Alliance
  • 2. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Description

This proposal was successfully submitted to the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation in early 2024. This additional support from the Sloan Foundation will enable the Research Software Alliance (ReSA) to continue community-led collaborations on common challenges in the research software ecosystem throughout 2024-26. The project aim will be achieved through the following three activities: establish two stakeholder forums (following the model of the highly successful Research Software Funders Forum); lay the groundwork – through actionable recommendations for community-supported routes – for convening an international research software conference; and provide seed funding for task forces that will advance research software globally.

ReSA’s focus aligns with the goals of the Sloan Foundation’s Technology program - Better Software for Science to develop practices, norms, and institutions that can better promote the development and adoption of discovery-enhancing software.
