Description

Oostenbrinkellus gen. n.

Diagnosis (Tylencholaimellidae: Tylencholaimellinae): Slender, medium size nematodes, 0.90–1.3 mm long. Outer cuticle thin, with fine transverse striations; inner layer thicker than the outer layer, finely striated. Lip region cap-like, almost continuous or offset by slight depression; lips more or less amalgamated, perioral region elevated, transformed into a labial disc. Cheilostome a truncate cone. Amphidial fovea large, cup-shaped, aperture slit-like. Odontostyle slender, slightly sinuate, mid region bent slight dorsally, anterior beak-like, with ventral accessory structure (stiffening piece) covering posterior half of the ventral arm; its aperture about one-fifth of the odontostyle length. Odontophore simple rod-like, usually shorter than odontostyle length with distinct basal knobs. Guiding ring strongly sclerotized, refractive. Pharynx consists of a slender and weakly muscular anterior part, expanding gradually into a short cylindrical basal bulb, occupying about one-fifth to one-fourth of the total pharynx length. Female genital system mono-opisthodelphic, anterior genital branch reduced to a simple sac. Vulva a minute pore. Males with dorylaimoid spicules; lateral guiding pieces and rarely a single ventromedian supplement. Tail long, filiform; similar in sexes.
