Malvana serrulata Stal 1865

Description

Malvana serrulata Stål, 1865

(Figs. 22–25, 53–54)

= Belonomus annulaticornis Uhler, 1869, new synonymy

Remarks. After careful examination of the types of each species as well as many non-type specimens, Malvana serrulata and Belonomus annulaticornis are considered conspecific. Their known distributions have been combined herein and the ventral and posterior pyogphore are illustrated (Figs. 24–25). As B. annulaticornis is the only species of the genus, this likewise places Belonomus in junior synonymy of Malvana.

Distribution. Known from Bolivia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Peru (Packauskas 2010). Mattei & Mattei (2017) reported this species from Amazonas, Venezuela, which was formally published in Cazorla (2021). French Guyana, Paraguay and Suriname are new country records.
