Description
Abstract: This paper conducts a comprehensive analysis of the intricate dynamics surrounding labour force participation and employment conditions in the context of Northeast India (NEI). Utilizing data derived from the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) conducted in 2021-22, this research employs a combination of descriptive statistical techniques and econometric tools. The overarching objective is to determine whether labour outcomes are significantly influenced by the socio-economic characteristics of workers. A significant finding of this study is the revelation of a diverse and nuanced labour force structure present in both the rural and urban areas of the NEI region. Notably, factors such as religion, social groups, educational attainment, age, household size, and Monthly Per Capita Expenditure (MPCE) emerge as prominent determinants that play a pivotal role in shaping labour outcomes in the NEI region.
