Rising Heat Waves in North America in the Past 40 Years

Description

This article shows that heat waves have become more intense and frequent in North America in the past 40 years (1980-2023), especially recently. Using this case study, we demonstrate how to efficiently conduct long-term time-series data analysis involving a large volume of data using various data services developed at NASA GES DISC, such as Giovanni, data rods, and TDS. We also introduce the products useful for extreme events and climate change studies and demonstrate how to cite the dataset DOIs appropriately. The Python notebooks used for generating the plots are included as well.
