Description

fabricii Lane & Cerqueira, 1942

(subgenus Peytonulus)

Type locality. Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Bionomics. Little is known about the bionomics of this species. Lane & Cerqueira (1942) described the species from individuals of progenies of females captured in the Atlantic Forest. In our field work, Sa. fabricii was obtained as progeny of females captured both in the Atlantic and Amazon forests, and also as immature stages found in perforated bamboo internodes (Coleção de Culicidae 2023).

Arbovirus infection records. None.

Occurrence in Brazil. States of Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Rondônia, São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul (Lane & Cerqueira 1942; Lane 1953; Guimarães et al. 2000 a, 2000b; Gomes et al. 2010 (as Sa. undosus / fabricii / ignotus); Chaves et al. 2014; Alencar & Gil-Santana 2015; Mucci et al. 2015; Abreu et al. 2019; Stanzani et al. 2023).

Occurrence in other countries. Panama (Wilkerson et al. 2021).
