Modern Technologies in Livestock and Poultry Farming
Description
The livestock agriculture industry must adapt to the growing global population by utilizing modern and digital technologies to produce more livestock products more efficiently, all the while addressing concerns about public health, environmental sustainability, and animal welfare. Biometric sensors, big data, block chain technology, electronic sensors, measuring devices, electronic controls, electronic data-processing options, and robotics in ruminant farming dairy cattle, dairy goats, and meat sheep are examples of technologies used in livestock farming (PLF) (Neethirajan and Kemp, 2021). Additionally, the use of smartphone apps for barn monitoring on chicken farms and electronic ear tags for pigs were evaluated (Groher et al., 2020). This involves managing herd movements, tracking grazing patterns, and optimizing feed supply through the use of automated devices and GPS technology. Another is that increased productivity in cattle production is also a result of advances in breeding and genetics. With the use of genomic information, farmers can now make more educated breeding decisions that result in animals with increased growth rates, feed efficiency, and resistance to illness. Simple to use sensors and measuring tools, like those used in milking parlour’s, were more common than data processing tools, such those for illness detection. Farmers can use biometric sensors, which can be either invasive or non-invasive, to track an individual animal's activity and health in real time. This data can then be integrated for population-level analysis. Block chain technology with sensors enabled provides safe and guaranteed traceability of animal products from farm to table, which is crucial for tracking disease outbreaks, averting associated financial losses, and averting food-related health pandemics. With the help of all technologies improve production in livestock and poultry and farmers may make the efficient use of their resources, land and increasing output. Due to use of these technologies produce less negative impact on the environment.
