Microxina charcoti Topsent, 1916

Material examined: 3 specimens collected in station 6 (SOI; 61°25'S, 44°37'W; 290 m; 3/3/2014; MACN-In 44387; collected by Laura Schejter).

Description: Tubular and ramified specimens, with hairy appearence and with a conulose surface, beige in colour (Figure 10d). Spicules are straight oxeas with sharp ends of 570–710 µm by 25–30 µm and microxeas of 50–65 µm (Figure 10e, f).

Remarks: As far as we know, this species has been only recorded by Topsent (1916, 1917) and Burton (1929). This represents a new record for the SOI.
