The holotype and one paratype (the allotype) are deposited in NMPC (ex coll. V. Balthasar):

PARATYPE (J): ‘Tanganyika / Dr. Szunyoghy [p] // Laiverero / 22.I.1960 [p] // Onthophagus / dicax n. sp. / 65 Balth. ♀ [hw] / Allotypus [p, pink label]’.
Current status. Valid species.
