Hilde Domin. La salvezza attraverso la parola

By the German poet Hilde Domin (1909-2006), the first five poetic collections are briefly reviewed: Nur eine Rose als Stütze [Only a Rose for Support, 1959], Rückkehr der Schiffe [Return of the Ships, 1962], Hier [Here, 1964], Höhlenbilder [Rock Figures, 1968] and Ich will dich [I Want You, 1970, 1995²]. As the title also indicates, the thread that guides the reading is given by the “salvation” that, for the poet, procures the poetic word when, concreting itself in exact and precise diction, it becomes an expression of a gesture of fundamental freedom.
