Curtonotum saheliense : Wirth and Tsacas 1980

Description

1.2.7. Curtonotum saheliense species-group

Species included: 2 (Afrotropical / Palaearctic).

Synapomorphy: Distiphallus with long, obliquely angled, posteriorly-directed spine basally (44). Tsacas (1977) included the two sister species, C. saheliense Tsacas and C. simile Tsacas, both of which are confined to xeric habitats bordering the Sahara and the Arabian Peninsula, in his cuthbertsoni species-group. As attested by the above-mentioned synapomorphy, they are here regarded as being sufficiently distinct to warrant inclusion in a species-group of their own.
