Description

Aleiodes basipunctatus sp. nov.

Holotype ♀, Thailand, Nan Province, Doi Phu Kha N P, office 4, 22.iii.2008, 19° 12.582' N, 101° 4.93' E, 1374m, Charoen & Nikom (voucher BCLDQ01570, Genbank JN278320) (QSBG).

Length of body 6.5 mm, of fore wing 5.6 mm and of antenna 7.5 mm.

Antenna with 47 flagellomeres. Median flagellomeres 1.8 x longer than wide. Occipital carina complete though somewhat irregular medio-dorsally, ventrally lamelliform and joining hypostomal carina at acute angle. Mesopleuron largely aciculate with large area of rugose sculpture anterodorsally and exding along weakly impressed precoxal sulcus, speculum area largely with shiny aciculate sculpure, with only a small completely smooth area posteroventrally. Midlongitudinal carina of propodeum complete. Fore wing vein 2-CU1 2.55 x 1- CU1. Apex of fore wing subbasal cell evenly setose. Fore wing vein 3-SR 2.1 x vein r. Fore wing vein 2-SR+M 1 x vein r. Fore wing vein SR1 2.36 x vein 3-SR. Hind wing vein M+CU 1.5 x 1-M. Hind wing subbasal cell with markedly reduced setoity on anterior halfe. Hind wing vein m-cu darkly pigmented, curved, more or less interstitial. Apex of hind tibia without comb of modified adpressed setae. Claws without obvious pecten teeth. Basal lobes of 1 st tergite weakly produced, angular, distinctly but weakly concave posteriorly. Midlongitudinal carina of 3 rd tergite hardly differentiated from other longitudinal striation.

Etymology. In reference to the black mark on the 1 st metasomal tergite.

Notes. Morphologically and colour-wise very close to A. castaneus sp. nov.
