Terracotta plaque from Ahichhatrā depicting Pralamba, Balarāma and Kṛṣṇa. State Museum, Allahabad.

Description

This Gupta period terracotta relief panel is recorded as originating from the ancient city of Ahichhatrā in the Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh, but the precise find spot is not known. The panel illustrates Balarāma sitting on the shoulders of the demon Pralamba, with Kṛṣṇa running behind. Here Balarāma is about to strike the demon. The plaque is on display at the State Museum in Allahabad.
