D3.5 – Final report on domain ontology requirements and specifications
Description
OntoCommons aims at working towards interoperability by means of harmonization with respect to upper-level ontologies and facilitating agreement in domain ontology development. As part of the effort of work package 3, an objective of OntoCommons is to collect and formalize requirements from the stakeholders' community by domain in terms of ontology development and exploitation. This report presents a set of functional and non-functional requirements based on the needs of demonstrators but also from stakeholders' (including domain experts') inputs - from inside and outside the project - collected through a set of expert group meetings and workshops. This deliverable (D3.5) is an extension of the 3.4 deliverable on the collection of such requirements driven by the data provided by the demonstrators. This deliverable will serve as input for the investigation of intra- and cross-domain interoperability in Task 3.4, as well as for the ontology knowledge graph validation in Task 4.6.
The primary challenge for preparing this deliverable arose from the long interactions and negotiations with the demonstrators’ organisations regarding the collection of data. Although the members of T3.3 envisioned collecting significant amount of data from the use cases, it faced hurdles in overcoming the security and privacy concerns of the companies regarding sharing their proprietary data. The members were obligated to change their strategy repeatedly to achieve the goal to some extent, delaying the completion of the report. This report contains at least some data sets acquired from few demonstrators to that end.
