Description

Fig. 3. Effects of M. sativa purified saponins on the integrity of cell wall in P. alba suspension cultures. The ultrastructural morphology of cell wall was evidenced by TEM analysis in untreated cells (CTRL) and in cells collected at 4 h following saponin (SAP) addition. The following concentrations were tested: 12.9 nmol mL ―1 (saponin 10) and 7.5 nmol mL ―1 (saponin 4). cw, cell wall; v, vacuole; c, cytosol; s, starch granule. Arrows indicate the filamentous structures detached from the outer cell layer.
