LeakageLib
Creators
Description
LeakageLib is a Python package to predict and remove polarization leakage for the IXPE satellite. Polarization leakage is a spatially-dependent systematic error in IXPE polarization measurements due to error in reconstructing photon positions from observed photoelectron tracks, and must be removed before mapping the polarization of extended sources.
This package also contains new PSFs for the satellite, obtained from observations of bright, unpolarized point sources. These will be useful for faint source extraction and extended source modeling.
The method is described and demonstrated in the associated ApJ paper. Example applications of the package are provided in the examples directory.
