Tracing the evolution of short-period binaries with super-synchronous fast-rotators (input MESA models)
Description
Input and output files for MESA r15140 described in Britavskiy et al. (2024). We used the MESA SDK x86_64-linux-22.6.1.
Each folder contains MESA input files for reproducing the basic results which are presented in a different sections of the paper, namely:
- "single_star_model_Dutch_wind" contains the model of a single 24 solar mass star with an initial rotation velocity of 350 km/s by assuming the "Dutch" wind scheme. See Section 3.1.
- "single_star_model_Bjorklund_wind" contains the model of a single 24 solar mass star with an initial rotation velocity of 350 km/s by assuming Björklund et al. (2023) wind model. See Section 3.1.
- "single_star_model_Fuller_AM" contains the model of a single 24 solar mass star with an initial rotation velocity of 350 km/s by assuming the "Dutch" wind scheme and Fuller et al. (2019) angular momentum transport. See Section 3.1.
- "pre_interaction_binary_model_MESA_tides" contains the binary model (M1=7, M2=1, Pini=5.24d) by assuming MESA default (sync_type_1 = "Hut_rad", sync_type_2 = "Hut_rad", based on Hurley et. al. 2002) tidal synchronization prescriptions. See Section 3.3.
- "pre_interaction_binary_model_POSYDON_tides" contains the binary model (M1=7, M2=1, Pini=5.24d) by assuming structure dependent tidal synchronization prescriptions (sync_type_1 = "structure_dependent", sync_type_2 = "structure_dependent", based on Qin et al. 2018, Fragos et al. 2023) which are implemented in the POSYDON population synthesis code. See Section 3.3.
- "post_interaction_binary_model_conservative_mass_transfer" contains the binary model (M1=30, M2=20, Pini=5d) by assuming conservative mass transfer (based on Renzo et al. 2021). See Section 4.2.
- "post_interaction_binary_model_non_conservative_mass_transfer" contains the binary model (M1=30, M2=20, Pini=5d) by assuming non-conservative mass transfer (mass_transfer_gamma = 2.0). See Section 4.2.
- "data" contains all MESA output files that are used for making all plots in the paper via "showyourwork" workflow (.../src/data).
