Description

Pyrops ducalis (Stål, 1863)

= Hotinus ducalis — Stål 1863: 576 [original description].

= Fulgora ducalis — Butler 1874: 100 [in section of species with blue-green wings, listed]; Lallemand 1963: 72 [keyed, described], pl. 10, figs. 17–19 [male genitalia illustrated].

= Laternaria ducalis — Metcalf 1947: 195 [catalogued].

Diagnosis. (1) cephalic process dark red, orange ventrally and at apex (Fig. 5D–E); (2) tegmina greenish blue covered with milky white wax forming a cloudy pattern (Fig. A); (3) posterior wings pale blue or white basally, dark brown on apical margin (Fig. 5A); (4) abdomen pale brown dorsally and dark brown ventrally (Fig. 5A–B).

Mesurements and ratio. TL: ♁ (n = 3): 42.4 mm (41.8–43.3 mm); TL+process: ♁ (n = 3): 59.2 mm (55.5–62 mm); LTg/BTg = 2.59; BF/BPrH = 2.07; LPr/LF = 3.52; LPr/BPrH = 7.91.

Distribution. Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam (Jiaranaisakul & Wonglersak, 2021; Constant & Pham, 2022).

Notes. The specimens were collected and observed on Dimocarpus longan Lour. (Sapindaceae) (new plant association) in Nakhon Ratchasima Province and Balakata baccata (Roxb.) Esser (Euphorbiaceae) (new plant association) in Chanthaburi Province.
