Nomenclatural note : on the availability of the genus names Amonia and Ammonia. 

The availability of the genus names “Amonia” and “Ammonia” following the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature is discussed and enlightened by the review of the original publications of the names’ authors as well as by a review of the litterature. The availability of the names Amonia Koch, 1832 and Ammonia Brünnich, 1772 is stated. The type species of both genera are also reprecised.
