OPTIMIZATION OF DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF POST-STROKE EPILEPSY
Authors/Creators
Description
Post-stroke epilepsy today is one of the important and serious complications of acute cerebrovascular accident, which significantly aggravates the post-stroke condition. Post-stroke epilepsy ranks third in the frequency of neurological problems in the elderly and ranges from 32.4% to 52.3% according to multicenter studies conducted in the USA and France. Stroke-related attacks are not uniform in nature. It is known that each subsequent epileptic seizure (EP) is associated with vital risk and worsening the prognosis of the course and control of epilepsy (Kwan P., Brodie M.J., 2000), especially in an elderly patient with a stroke.
