129. Syntormon pallipes (Fabricius, 1794) (Sympycninae) — new to Portugal

Number of specimens recorded. 760.

Distribution. Europe; also North Africa. Portugal: 10 provinces (also Dyte unpubl. data).

Ecology. Recorded from six macrohabitat categories in Portugal without a distinct preference, and seemingly lacking only in the dunes. In northwestern Europe, this rather eurytopic hygrophilous species is most frequently and abundantly found in salt marshes and brackish marshes, and to a lesser extent in swamps and riparian habitats.

Rarity (%). 41.4 (common). Common (FL).

Activity period. All months, except for February.
