Polyipnus aquavitus Baird 1971 — Spirit hatchetfish
Status at New Ireland. First recorded from off southern New Ireland by Harold (1994: 497–498)
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 3.—General distribution: eastern Indonesia east to South Fiji Basin, south to Tasman Sea. Pelagic, 50–1100 m depth. Marine.
