Etymology. The specific name is given as a reference to “tereré” or “tererê”, an infusion of yerba mate in cold water of Guarani people origin, typical in South America. The infusion is much appreciated in Mato Grosso do Sul, the type locality of this species. The specific name should be treated as a noun in apposition.
