Metabolic recovery of isolated heart muscle

Description
This thesis describes experiments performed to determine the time course and nature of
metabolic recovery after contraction. Under various conditions isometric twitch contractions of
isolated rabbit papillary muscle are studied. A number of techniques is employed to measure
force development, oxygen consumption, heat production and metabolite concentrations
involved in muscular energetics.
