Description
Rice is the staple food of more than half of the global population. Hence, exploring ways to increase rice production with less resource are essential for increasing food security. Climate change can reduce agricultural income by 15-25 per cent; it is high time that rationale of climate-resilient agriculture is valued and implemented more rigorously. It is therefore, necessary to develop climate resilient package and practices for increasing productivity and profitability of rice based cropping system. The result of the studies on crop establishment method and weed management in direct seeded rice revealed that the maximum net monetary return and B:C ratio were computed in the conventional tillage-vattar-DSR through multi-crop planter fitted with inclined plate seed metering mechanism method, among the establishment methods. Whereas, the pre fb post emergence application of oxadiargyl 80 WP @ 80 g ha-1 PE fb bispyribac-sodium @ 25 g ha-1 at 20 DAS among the weed management practices. The rice-linseed cropping system analyzed on the basis of interaction effects and revealed that the rice may be grown under conventional tillage direct seeding with 100: 60:40 kg NPK ha-1 + 2 t FYM and following linseed through zero tillage + residue (Happy seeder) or conventional tillage. The linseed may fertilized either with 100 % RDF (60:30:30 kg NPK ha-1) or 100 % RDF + 2 t FYM. These treatment combinations are suitable to obtain higher seed yield, nutrient uptake, net return, B:C ratio and energy input and output and increase organic carbon, available nitrogen, phosphorus potassium in the soil. Various activities have been carried out for promotion of linseed at farmer's level through FLDs and up to 50 % yield increment was observed over farmer's practices. Farmers and entrepreneur was also linked with value addition programme under ICAR, NAHEP-W2W project, under the project various activities has been carried out like purchase of linseed stem, prepared linseed fibre and linseed yarn was used for making high valued clothes by rural women of the tribal dominated state of India.
