Excavation of the medina, Calatrava la Vieja

3D model of the south-east sector of the medina de Calatrava la Vieja, in which were discovered the remains of several houses from the Islamic and Christian periods, with continued occupation between the 10th and 15th centuries. In the southwestern corner, a large landfill from the Almohad period (1195-1212 CE) has also been documented, which intentionally filled in the old Islamic defensive moat that stood between the alcázar and the medina.
