Description

Govan 15 ([Stirling Maxwell's numbering](https://archive.org/details/sculpturedstone00maxwgoog/page/n30/mode/2up); ECMS 34) is one of 31 early medieval recumbent cross-slabs originally recorded at Govan Old in 1899. This is currently displayed upright, but these monuments would have originally laid flat in the churchyard, likely marking the grave of a significant early medieval individual. This monument is fragmented, but there are no records for what the lower part would have looked like. This stone was reused sometime between the 17th-19th centuries, at which point the initials 'A.R.I.R.' were added.
