LA015-023003- Kyle - Architectural Fragment
Description
The remins of carved Hiberno-Romanesque architectural fragments in the graveyard are scattered throughout the graveyard some, which appears to have been fabric from the medieval church. One of these stones are the remains of a large sandstone capital lying near the S boundary wall of the graveyard (LA015-023002-), this capital comes from a 12th century doorway of the church. On a recent site inspection the scalloped capital was located on the SE angle of the E gable of the levelled church in the centre of the graveyard. Other architectural fragments were scattered around the wall footings of this levelled building. This is a proposed positioning of the fragments as they may have been in the original doorway.
