CityPlace Schooner Chisel with Broad Arrow
Description
This is a photogrammetric model of a chisel found in 2015 in downtown Toronto by Archaeological Services, Inc. during its excavation of the CityPlace schooner, an early 19th-century merchant vessel. It was discovered near the keel towards the stern of the wreck. It has a broad arrow incised into its surface, indicating that it once was the property of the British government. The wreck is currently located at the Fort York National Historic Site and is the subject of an archaeological study by scholars from the Nautical Archaeology Program at Texas A&M University.
