Description

Country: Central Africa Time of production: XIX - beginning of the XX c. Material: Steel, copper alloy, wood Total Length, cm: 61 Blade length, cm: 39,5 Blade width, cm: 17,5 Was used as a weapon and as a tool of labor by Mangbetu people living in the nothern Zaire, and Zande people inhabiting the territory of the Sudan and Zaire on both banks of the river Wells. Was used as a weapon and as an instrument, for clearing land for crops or for gardening of the banana groves. Blades have one or several holes, with copper pins which marked the social rank of the owner. Usually trombash had no scabbard, they were worn in the hands or were kept close to the owner. Steel, double-edged blade, large curvature, with a convex spine, which expands and goes into the tang. In the lower part of the blade between the blade spine and the concave blade is circular hole.
