Closed Helmet with Etched Decor

  • 1. none

Description

Like so many other pieces of armour in the Royal Armoury's collection, this helmet was made in Augsburg, Germany in the 1540s. This helmet features a collar of three interlocking riveted plates as protection for the wearer's neck. The helmet visor consists of two parts; a visor with a horisontal viewing slot that can be lifted separately and an upper-bevor with breathing holes. 2-piece slotted visors became increasingly common during the second quarter of the 16th century. Along the edges and on both sides of the helmet comb there is an etched decor. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab
