Description

This wall is the facade of another 17th c. building of Kond. I was able to meet the family that lives inside who told me a bit about its history. They said that this house was the Shah's sister's house because it was well fortified on the hill. It's currently split into 2 different residences. Location: 40.181936754123704, 44.49972929193259 Kond, which means long hill in Armenian, is one of the three original districts of Yerevan, and was formerly known as Tepebashi during the 17th-century Persian rule. Kond was inhabited by Safavid/Qajar Persians, Tatars (Azeris), and Armenians. It's currently the only remaining district of 3 districts of Yerevan during the Safavid Persian rule. Today, it's not in good shape and lacks many basic infrastructure that the rest of the neighborhoods of Yerevan have.
