Monmouth Victorian Crown

  • 1. none

Description

This scan is of the crown on the old water fountain next to the church of St Thomas the Martyr in Monmouth, South Wales. It can be found just over the old bridge from the car park at the bottom of the town. It was erected in 1897 so is from the Victorian jubilee of that year. The jubilee celebrated 60 years of Queen Victoria on the UK throne and was widely celebrated, often through erecting monuments such as this one.
