Corsbie Family Home, San Fernando (Demolished)

In the 19th century, the Corsbie clan was a prominent San Fernando family which saw many of its people holding senior civil service positions such as Henry Corsbie who was a senior warden of the now-gone Lodge Royal Trinity which stood on the site of the present San Fernando Supreme Court. He died in 1881 and was buried on its grounds. At one point, the family was so struck by misfortune that upon the death of Frederick Corsbie in Guyana in 1889, there remained but a single heir in Trinidad to carry on the name. The family lived in genteel style in this imposing , yet tasteful wooden house which was built off Coffee St. on Corsbie Lane. This building was originally erected in 1877 and refurbished and extended before 1900. The most recent prominent person to carry the Corsbie name is local raconteur, Ken Corsbie.
