Tripod pot from Kalmar, Sweden
Description
Late 16th – early 17th century red unglazed earthen ware. Tripod pot with tubular pipkin handle, used for food preparations or cooking. The pot was found during the large excavations outside Kalmar castle in the 1930's (Kalmar Slottsfjärd). The ceramic material from Kalmar Slottsfjärd contains one of North Europé's largest collections of complete and reconstructed ceramic pots and jugs.
