Word class universals and language-particular analysis

This paper discusses word classes from the perspective of word class universals (in particular, universal tendencies of function-indicator distribution) and argues that the question whether all languages make word-class distinctions cannot be answered. It emphasizes the difference between general linguistics and language-particular analyses, which contribute to particular linguistics (not necessarily general linguistics).
