Opium weight
Description
Very old opium weight (bronze) in the shape of a zebu (humped cattle). Weight: 1600 gr = 100 viss (mass body), height: approx. 10 cm. Origin: Burma (Myanmar). First weights of this species known around 1500 AD. Replaced by round iron weights by the English at the end of the 19th century. Private collection.
