Description
Abstract:
This paper attempts to explore the traumatic experience of diasporic elements in V. S. Naipaul's "A Bend in the River". It discusses the important theme of diaspora and also the real status of diasporic people. Diaspora refers to a community of individuals living outside in the same way as the state or people of their homeland. "A Bend in the River" displays an acute awareness of the transitional complexities of belongings and identity entailed in a diasporic experience. It also shows migration as a part of the border change and transitional networks and linkages between the Indian diaspora and diasporic communities. It shows how immigrants turn vulnerable in a newly decolonized world, the problem of making an identity, finding and making a location is pointed out through Naipaul's writing.
