The King Alfred Jewel

This is the first iteration of the South West Heritage Trust's ongoing work on the scanning of a 20th Century replica of the King Alfred Jewel. This model has been processed from a data set of 240 images using COLMAP, OpenMVS and Blender. When compared with images of the object, the immediate thing to notice is that the eponymous jewel is missing due to the limitations of the photogrammetric process, but we are looking to rectify this in the future. However, there is clear artifacting around the areas that would be the edge of the jewel, and you can see a rough impression of the image of Alfred that would normally be underneath the jewel. The only edits made to this model were: The removal of disconnected mesh topography, and the alteration of the model's material in order to add additional mesh detail, as well as the metallic sheen seen here.
